Kleptomaniacs in Authority?
With the brazen display of wealth in the midst of widespread poverty, the persistent allegations of corruption, and the seemingly extravagant lifestyles of some public officials that appear far beyond their legitimate earnings, many citizens are asking difficult questions.
When public resources disappear without accountability, when the rule of law appears selective, and when those entrusted with public office seem to prosper while the people struggle, what should such conduct be called?
Is it fair to describe such public officials as "kleptomaniacs in authority," or is that an unfair label that oversimplifies a much more complex problem?
This is not an attempt to judge individuals without evidence. Rather, it is an invitation to reflect on the culture of public accountability, leadership, and governance.
